Latta Church To Help Community Members During ‘Gas On God’ Event

The event will be first come, first serve while funds last. There will be volunteers on site to help community members.

A church in the Latta community will be offering assistance for residents following the closure of the town’s only grocery store.

The IGA is closing, which will force many residents to drive to Dillon or other places to reach a grocery store.

The New Hope Missionary Baptist Church is hosting an event called ‘Gas on God.’ The church will pay for gas for people in need. The church’s pastor said the goal is to support and uplift the community.

The event will be held Aug. 22 from 10am-3pm at the Tiger Mart Exxon along Richardson Street. It will be first come, first serve while funds last. There will be volunteers on site to help community members and offer additional resources.
