An armed robber was shot and killed by a store employee in Florence County.

The situation unfolded around 10:15pm on Wednesday. Officers responded to a reported armed robbery at Smokers Town along Woody Jones Boulevard.

Investigators say the man entered the business while sporting a mask and gloves and was armed with a gun. He attempted to place money into a bag when the employee grabbed a handgun and fired several rounds at him.
