Workers Sue TSA Over TSA Gold+ Program

The American Federation of Government Employees is suing the TSA.

The agency represents 47,000 TSA workers across over 400 U.S. airports. The lawsuit is seeking to force the release of records regarding the expansion of privatized security screening at airports, a new program known as TSA Gold+.

The lawsuit claims the agency’s “secretive push” of the partnership took place without formal disclosure. It also alleges a count of violating the statutory deadline for a ‘May Freedom of Information Act’ request and unlawful withholding of agency records.

The AFGE claims it found out about the new program “by accident.” The three airports set to implement TSA Gold+ next year are Charleston International, Tampa International and Des Moines International Airport. The TSA has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
