Investigation Into Inmate Fight At Scotland Correctional Institution

The prison's high-security and maximum-security housing units remain on lockdown as investigators continue to learn more.

We now have additional information following a fight that broke out between inmates in Scotland County.

The Monday night fight involved around 15 inmates and unfolded inside the Scotland Correctional Institution.

Five of the inmates suffered stab wounds or cuts and were taken to a hospital to be treated. Two were reportedly seriously injured and three remain hospitalized as of Wednesday.

It was discovered that the weapons used in the fight were homemade. The prison’s high-security and maximum-security housing units remain on lockdown as investigators continue interviewing inmates, gathering evidence, and working to determine what prompted the fight.
