FDA Approves First mRNA-Based Flu Vaccine

A study during last flu season found the new vaccine to be around 27% more effective than the standard flu vaccine.

The FDA has approved a new mRNA-based seasonal flu vaccine.

The vaccine, called mFLUSIVA, is the first in the U.S. to use mRNA technology against the flu. It will also be the first to of its kind to be approved by the FDA.

A study during last flu season found the new vaccine to be around 27% more effective than the standard flu vaccine. It will be available this fall for people 50 and older.
