Father Charged After Child Struck By Vehicle Resulting In Injuries

The child's father, 37-year-old Christopher Jackson was reportedly out of the county at the time of the incident but returned after learning of the news.

The father of a child has been charged following an incident in Scotland County.

Around 3:30am Wednesday, deputies responded to Morgan Street after receiving reports that a child had been hit by a vehicle.

Upon arrival, officials learned that a 4-year-old boy was struck by a box truck. The driver was the only person on the scene with the child when emergency crews arrived.

The child was transported to a hospital before being transferred to a pedestrian trauma center. The boy is in stable condition, but has suffered major internal injuries.

The child’s father, 37-year-old Christopher Jackson, was reportedly out of the county at the time of the incident but returned after learning of the news.

Following an investigation, Jackson was charged with felony child abuse. He is being held at the Scotland County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond. The investigation remains active.
