Taco Bell Being Investigated Amid Cyclosporiasis Outbreak
Federal and state health agencies are investigating whether Taco Bell locations may have contributed to a widespread outbreak.
Taco Bell is under investigation in connection to a rapidly growing cyclosporiasis outbreak.
Federal and state health agencies are investigating whether Taco Bell locations may have contributed to a widespread outbreak of the gastrointestinal illness caused by a microscopic parasite.
The eatery has been notifying customers that locations could not serve lettuce, cilantro onions, pico de gallo or guacamole due to a “national recall.”
Taco Bell said it will continue to closely monitor the situation and follow the guidance of public health authorities.
Neither the FDA nor the Department of Health and Human Services have commented on the investigation.
Cases of the illness are rising across multiple states linked to fresh fruits and vegetables. However, an exact source of the outbreak has not been determined at this time.
