NASA is Looking for People to Spend a Year in a Simulated Habitat
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, between 30 and 55 years old.
If you’ve ever wanted to experience life on mars, NASA has an opportunity that might be right up your alley. The space agency is looking for volunteers willing to spend a year pretending they’re millions of miles from earth.
They’re recruiting four volunteers for a year-long simulation, where they’ll live in isolated habitats to help scientists prepare for future deep-space missions. The mission won’t include actual liftoff, but participants will perform astronaut-like tasks, simulated spacewalks, scientific research, and learn what it’s really like to live with the same three people for an entire year…arguably the toughest part of the job.
Applicants must be U.S. citizens, between 30 and 55 years old, meet strict health and education requirements, and be willing to undergo physical and psychological testing before they’re selected.
