Army Chief Of Staff Ordered To Retire Immediately

George had been expected to serve a four-year term through roughly 2027.

War Secretary Pete Hegseth asked Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George to step down.

Hegseth reportedly asked George to immediately retire, saying, “it was time for a leadership change in the Army.”

George was nominated by Former President Biden and confirmed by the Senate in 2023. He had been expected to serve a four-year term through roughly 2027.

A chief spokesperson said, “The Department of War is grateful for General George’s decades of service to our nation. We wish him well in his retirement.”
