The president himself is attending the oral arguments, as is Attorney General Pam Bondi. Trump’s attendance marks the first time in U.S. history that a sitting president has attended oral arguments and highlight’s his interest in this case.
The arguments will be in regard to an executive order that Trump signed on his first day back in office. It seeks to end automatic citizenship for nearly all persons born in the U.S. to undocumented patents, or to parents with temporary non-immigrant visas in the U.S..
Trump administration officials view the order, and the high court’s consideration of the case, as a significant component of Trump’s immigration agenda.
