SC Forestry Commission Issues Statewide Burning Ban

The ban will start at 4pm Friday and remain in place until further notice.

A statewide burning ban will take effect Friday across South Carolina.

The order prohibits all outdoor burning in every county, including the burning of yard debris, prescribed burns, campfires, burn-fires, and other recreational fires in unincorporated areas.

The ban does not apply to cooking fires or those contained within approved enclosures like outdoor fireplaces, or permanent fire pits.

The ban will take place due to a combination of critically low humidity levels, dry vegetation, gusty winds, and more.

It will start at 4pm Friday and remain in place until further notice.
