The city of Florence has appointed its first-ever female chief of police.
Angela Greene will take over on April 1. She previously served over 20 years in Virginia, where she became an experienced law enforcement leader.
Florence County officials say she worked her way through the ranks and earned a reputation for strengthening police agencies, lowering crime rates, and building trust through community involvement and teamwork.
Greene will be stepping into the position after Allen Heidler retired back in October. The public is invited to an investiture ceremony will be held at 3pm on Monday in the city council chambers.
