In the early hours of Thursday a fire broke out at a home in the area of Highway 15 and 5th Avenue South.

Myrtle Beach firefighters were able to get the blaze under control around 1am. The road was closed off to traffic for several hours while fire crews remain at the scene.

The deceased individual was not publicly identified. Further details are limited and an investigation is underway.
