Myrtle Beach Police Department Chief Retiring

“I am proud to have served the city and to work with such an amazing team and partners,” Prock said.

The Myrtle Beach police chief is retiring after three decades on the force.

Amy Prock is ending a 30-year career with the force. She was the first female chief in the history of the department.

Under her leadership, the Myrtle Beach Police Department modernized and expanded its capabilities including creation of a real time crime unit and use of high-tech tools like ShotSpotter and more.

In 2023, Prock was honored with the ‘Strom Thurmond Excellence in Law Enforcement Award’. She joined the department in 1996 and was named chief in 2017.

“I am proud to have served the city and to work with such an amazing team and partners,” Prock said. Her last day will be April 2.
