International Paper To Close Remaining Facility In Georgetown
The decision to close this facility came after a "strategic assessment" was conducted.
International Paper is set to close its remaining mill in Georgetown.
In late 2024, International Paper closed a separate Georgetown facility. It was the town’s largest employer with around 700 employees.
Now, the company is closing its container plant in Georgetown, which has over 100 employees. The company noted they will assist workers, as well as customers, through this transition.
The decision to close this facility came after a “strategic assessment” was conducted. It’s unclear what will become of the plant locations, but International Paper plans to sell after receiving multiple bids from different groups who are interested.
