According to therapists, this quirky technique stimulates the vagus nerve, calms the nervous system, and helps pull you out of fight-or-flight mode. Part of the appeal is that it’s silly and laughing at yourself may be half the medicine. It’s also practical: slow exhaling with lip vibrations can reduce jaw tension and make shallow breathing a thing of the past.
