Trump Signs Bill To End Partial Government Shutdown

Congress now has two weeks to reach an agreement or face a DHS shutdown.

President Trump signed a five-bill minibus and a continuing resolution to end a partial government shutdown.

A handful of House Democrats voted with 196 Republicans to approve the measure that was recently passed by the Senate.

Most Democrats voted against the package amid high tensions regarding the immigration crackdown along with a handful of GOP lawmakers.

The measure provides funding for the Pentagon, Education, Treasury, Labor and State departments through the end of the fiscal year. But it only includes a two-week short-term measure to keep the Department of Homeland Security funded through the end of next week.

On that topic, Democrats are demanding changes to ICE and Congress now has two weeks to reach an agreement or face a DHS shutdown. That would impact agencies from the TSA to FEMA.
