Market Common Traffic Discussions Underway After Complaints

There have been several reports of people speeding through the busy business section of Farrow Parkway.

The Myrtle Beach City Council discussed a significant topic during Tuesday’s meeting.

Many complaints have been filed regarding the traffic in Market Common. There have been several reports of people speeding through the busy business section of Farrow Parkway. Over 320 citations issued through January alone. The area is also known for its high foot traffic, cyclist routes, and more.

The city is now exploring possible ways to calm the traffic. Some council members expressed favor in changing the speed limit to 25 mph down all of Farrow Parkway. But no speed limit changes will be made until the council hears other recommendations as well as feedback from public safety and public works.

At this time, the assistant city manager said they will be installing larger speed limit signs and adjusting traffic signals. They are also seeking to install texture changes on the road to caution people to slow down.
