Ford Recalls Over 100,000 Vehicles Due To Fire Risk
The issue could cause it to short-circuit when the block heater is plugged in, increasing the risk of a fire.
Ford has placed a recall on more than 100,000 vehicles.
The recall covers 2013 to 2019 Escape, Focus, and Lincoln models. The impacted vehicles have an engine block heater that may crack and develop a coolant leak. That issue could cause it to short-circuit when the block heater is plugged in, increasing the risk of a fire.
Customers may notice coolant spots on the ground where they park their vehicle. They may also notice a loss of cabin heat, overheating, smoking or a warning indicator for low coolant levels.
No accidents or injuries have been reported in relation to the malfunction at this time. Drivers should refrain from plugging in the block heater until the issue is fixed. You can take your vehicle to a dealership to get it replaced.
