GM Recalls Over 80,000 Vehicles Due To Pedestrian Safety Risk
The recall comes after the company discovered with the pedestrian alert sound system.
General Motors has issued a recall on over 80,000 vehicles.
The recall covers certain 2025 to 2026 model year Chevrolet Equinox EV vehicles that fail to meet federal traffic safety laws. They do not comply with minimum sound requirements for hybrid and electric vehicles.
The recall comes after the company discovered that the pedestrian alert sound system in the vehicles may have an incorrect software calibration, meaning they won’t be able to “produce exterior sound at the required relative volume when the vehicle is traveling from stationary to 6.2 mph.”
The issue can fail to alert pedestrians that a vehicle is approaching, speeding up, or slowing down under certain conditions, risking their safety. GM is now working on a remedy to address the issue.
