Four Latta Police Officers Resign Citing Issues With Mayor

The Latta Police Department has experienced staffing issues for years including abrupt resignations.

Four officers with the Latta Police Department have resigned from their positions.

The officers, including Chief Allan Rogers, submitted their two week notices citing control issues with Mayor Marcus McGirt.

Newly elected McGirt denied the allegations against him of trying to control the police department claiming they are completely false. He said that he is shocked at the resignations and has yet to receive any letters in regards to the actions. McGirt plans to make a full statement at an appropriate time.

The Latta Police Department has experienced staffing issues for years including abrupt resignations. Most recently, a former police chief’s certification was withdrawn for providing false information to the SC Criminal Justice Academy.
