Free Program Prepares Horry Co. Kids, Parents For Kindergarten

There will be four free sessions that will be held on January 31, February 21, March 21, and April 18.

A collaboration between Horry County Schools, United Way of Horry County and “Rise With Reading” will soon offer a free program.

‘Ready, Set, Kindergarten’ aims to prepare 4-year-olds for their first year of kindergarten. The kids and their parents will be placed in a mock classroom setting for an hour. It will allow kids a chance to get more comfortable in a learning environment. Parents will have the opportunity to see how their child does in a new social setting.

The kids will take part in play-based learning activities, practice routines like lining up, and other simple strategies. Tips from educators will be delivered to parents on how to make sure their kids are ready for success when heading off to school.

There will be four free sessions that will be held on January 31, February 21, March 21, and April 18 from 10-11am at Conway Elementary School. The program is limited to 15 families per session and each family must pre-register to participate.
