NMB Passes First Reading Of Ordinance Regarding Public Safety
City council will host another vote on a second reading in order for the ordinance to be passed.
The city of North Myrtle Beach approved the first reading of a proposed ordinance.
The ordinance would give police the ability to handle and control disturbances at homes including house parties.
If passed, police will be given authority to enter a home and not only remove the people present but remove where they clog roads and block people from getting home.
It will allow police a more efficient way to monitor disturbances and house parties without having to “dissect different ordinances to get there.”
The ordinance aims to protect public safety. It comes as the city has seen an increase in gatherings that escalate into other issues.
City council will host another vote on a second reading in order for the ordinance to be passed.
