Florence Police To Launch New Initiative Using Community Cameras

Officials would know that there are existing cameras in the area.

The Florence Police Department is launching a new initiative that involves using community cameras to help solve crimes.

Residents can register their home surveillance systems with Flock Safety. By doing that, officials would know that there are existing cameras in the area.

Home cameras will not be viewed live but if an incident occurs, an officer would contact the registered owner to request footage.

Over 100 businesses have already signed on, allowing Florence police real-time access to their camera feeds. Registering home cameras is free, but businesses must pay a fee directly to Flock Safety.
