Fire Damages One Acre In Florence County

No injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze is now under investigation.

A fire damaged around one acre of grass in Florence County.

On Saturday, fire rescue crews responded to the intersection of Irby Street and Effingham Highway in the Howe Springs area.

Officials were called to investigate a large column of black smoke but discovered a structure fire at a storage building in which crews were able to contain preventing further spread to nearby properties.

The flames damaged one outbuilding, a wooden fence and the acre. No injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze is now under investigation.
