Man Faces Several Charges After Stealing Ambulance, Fatal Shooting

One man is facing multiple charges after a series of events.

On Saturday, paramedics responded to the area of Chavis Road in Maxton on reports of a medical emergency.

While en route to the hospital, the patient, 36-year-old Cheyenne Woods, wielded a firearm at two EMS workers and then stole the ambulance.

A short time later, he was involved in a collision with another vehicle. Woods then approached the other vehicle and shot 74-year-old Marie Locklear. She was taken to a hospital where she later died.

Woods was charged with first-degree murder, eight counts of discharging a weapon into occupied property, robbery with a weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a stolen firearm.

Woods was additionally charged with second-degree kidnapping and other charges. He is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.
