Travelers Facing Challenges As FAA Reduces Air Traffic

The move impacted airports across more than two dozen states including in major cities.

Friday morning the FAA reduced 10% of air traffic across 40 markets amid the government shutdown.

The move impacted airports across more than two dozen states including in major cities such as Atlanta, Los Angeles, Charlotte, Chicago, and many more.

Travelers are facing widespread flight cancellations as over 800 flights have been affected so far. The FAA will gradually continue to cancel flights as they ramp up to 10% a week from Friday.

The move comes as Republicans and Democrats refuse to reach an agreement to end the government shutdown. That has had a major impact on air traffic controllers amid an ongoing staffing shortage.
