Man Wanted In Connection To Fatal Dillon Co. Shooting

25-year-old Joatur Blakely was identified as the suspect with help from surveillance video and witness statements.

Dillon County authorities are asking for the public’s help with locating a suspect.

25-year-old Joatur Blakely is wanted on a murder charge in connection to the fatal shooting of 52-year-old Burnie Townsend.

The incident took place Monday morning at the 24 Hour Spot on Highway 301 in Dillon. An altercation reportedly broke out in which Townsend attempted to step in and break up prompting shots fired.

Blakely was identified as the suspect with help from surveillance video and witness statements. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
