Hurricane Melissa Continues Ravaging Across The Caribbean

At least 30 hurricane-related deaths have been reported across the Caribbean.

Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica on Tuesday as a Category 5.

It was recorded as the strongest storm in the island’s history. It’s prime minister declared the country a disaster as some areas are underwater. It caused major damage to public infrastructure but the full extent of the devastation is unclear with some areas inaccessible.

Early on Wednesday, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Cuba as a Category 3. Around 140,000 people are cut off by rising river levels as the storm lashes the country and heads toward the Bahamas.

At least 30 hurricane-related deaths have been reported across the Caribbean. That includes at least 28 in Haiti and some in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.
