DoorDash Launches Crisis Plan As Millions Expected To Lose SNAP Benefits
Over 40 million people in the U.S. are set to lose access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
As the government shutdown continues, more than 40 million people in the U.S. are set to lose access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP.
As a result a food delivery company launched an “emergency food response” to support those in need throughout next month.
DoorDash said it plans to deliver roughly one million free meals through its food bank partners, waive fees for 300,000 snap recipients ordering groceries from participating retailers and donate food from its own online convenience store, DashMart, to local food banks.
The company’s vice president said, “no one should go hungry in America, period.” He added, fighting hunger is their mission and while the stop-gap is not a solution, “doing nothing simply isn’t an option.”
