President Trump has previously ordered the release of documents related to other high-profile deaths.
The Trump administration has ordered FBI employees to immediately search their stations and digital media for records pertaining to the disappearance of Amelia Earhart. Employees in the agency’s DC and New York offices received the unusual request from their leadership flagged with high importance.
They must search any records from both open or closed cases regarding Earhart. She was the first female pilot to fly solo over the Atlantic Ocean and broke multiple aviation records.
Earhart went missing over the Pacific Ocean in 1938 during her attempt to become the first woman to fly around the world. She was declared lost at sea following a 16-day search.
Conspiracy theories have developed since her disappearance. Trump has previously ordered the release of documents related to other high-profile deaths. Those include records related to JFK and Martin Luther King Jr’s assassinations and more.
