Federal Judge Blocks Trump From Sending Troops To Oregon
Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek referred to the initial plan as “an abuse of power."
A federal judge temporarily blocked the Trump administration from sending National Guard troops to Oregon.
President Trump initially ordered the deploy of troops to Portland last month. He claimed an ICE facility in the city was “under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists.”
The judge, along with the city, granted a temporary restraining order against the actions. The order prevents the president from deploying troops from all 50 states and D.C. to Portland.
Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek referred to the initial plan as “an abuse of power and a disservice to our communities and our service members.” The restraining order is scheduled to expire on October 19.
