Investigation Into Standoff, Officer Involved Shooting

A woman exited the camper, and inside, one suspect was found dead while another was taken into custody.

An investigation is underway in connection to an officer involved shooting that unfolded in Robeson County.

Around 1pm Thursday, several agencies conducted a search warrant in the 400 block of Ice Cream Drive in the St. Pauls area.

Upon arrival, a suspect came out of a camper with a rifle and fired several rounds at authorities. The suspect then fled back into the camper after shots were returned.

Authorities attempted to contact the occupants for nearly an hour before deploying tear gas. A woman exited the camper, and inside, one suspect was found dead while another was taken into custody.

The identities of those involved were not publicly revealed and further details remain limited.
