Apple Removes ICEBlock From App Store

Apple has removed an app that tracks the location of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers.
ICEBlock first launched in April and allowed users to track where ICE officers were and pinned their locations. Those within a five-mile radius of the officers would receive a notification.
Last month, the acting head of ICE operations called the ICEBlock and similar apps “a casting call to invite bad actors to attack law enforcement officers.”
Attorney General Pam Bondi has since requested the removal of the app. In response Apple complied stating, “based on information we’ve received from law enforcement about the safety risks associated with ICEBlock, we have removed it and similar apps from the App Store.”
The company said the App Store was created to be a safe and trust place to discover apps.
