The Venmo app has become a go-to for splitting bills and paying friends, so much so that it has its own unspoken etiquette.

According to a recent poll, many users say they round up when sending money but often expect exact amounts when it’s their turn to get paid back. About 55% say you shouldn’t have to repay small debts under five dollars. And when it comes to collecting money, most prefer to casually remind a friend rather than send a formal request.

Venmo has also taken on a social element, with many admitting they use the app to peek at friends public transactions.
