Over 85k Bags Of Shrimp Sold At Kroger-Owned Stores Recalled

The shrimp packages were sold at Kroger-owned locations including in South Carolina.

Over 85,000 bags of shrimp sold at Kroger-owned stores across several states have been recalled.

The recall covers bags of Kroger Raw Colossal EZ Peel Shrimp, Kroger Mercado Cooked Medium Peeled Tail-Off Shrimp, and AquaStar Raw Peeled Tail-On Shrimp Skewers.

It was placed “because they may have been prepared, packed, or held under unsanitary conditions” and “may have become contaminated with cesium-137.” The radioactive chemical is “produced by nuclear fission for use in medical devices and gauges.”

The shrimp packages were sold at Kroger-owned locations including in South Carolina. They were sold between June 12 and September 17. Consumers should throw the food out or return it to the place of purchase for a refund.
