Suspect Of Charlie Kirk Assassination Could Face Death Penalty

A note was also left beforehand saying he had the opportunity to kill one of the nation's leading conservative voices adding, "I'm going to take it."

The suspect accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk participated in a virtual court appearance on Tuesday.

Prosecutors officially brought a murder charge against 22-year-old Tyler Robinson. Evidence provided included a text message confession to his partner. A note was also left beforehand saying he had the opportunity to kill one of the nation’s leading conservative voices adding, “I’m going to take it.”

Evidence also included a DNA match linking Robinson to the rifle used in the attack. It was announced that if convicted, Robinson could face the death penalty.

Kirk was gunned down last Wednesday during a Q&A event at Utah Valley University. It was said Robinson shot the 31-year-old with a bolt-action rifle from the roof of a nearby building on the campus.
