President Trump signed a memorandum to create a task force to reduce crime in Memphis, Tennessee.
Trump said that the task force was created at the request of Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, who attended the signing.
“I’m tired of crime holding the great city of Memphis back,” Lee said. He added, “when we come together, we can make significant change in our city and the city of Memphis.”
Federal law enforcement on the ground in Memphis will include the National Guard, the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, ICE, and the U.S. Marshal’s service.
Trump said Chicago will be “probably next.” He has plan to send federal law enforcement into the Illinois city for weeks despite those opposed to the move.
