The animal is a small gray, black and orange and was known to be part of a feral cat colony.
A cat in Horry County tested positive for rabies.
The animal was located near Glenwood Drive and Fair Bluff Highway in the Green Sea area.
Officials reported that the two people were exposed and have been referred to health care providers.
Two dogs were also exposed to the rabid animal and have been locked down in a quarantined environment for treatment.
It was said that the cat was submitted to the S.C. Department of Public Health’s laboratory for testing last week and was confirmed to have rabies.
It is a small gray, black and orange and was known to be part of a feral cat colony in the area and lacked getting the rabies vaccine.
An investigation is underway to identify additional feral or stray cats in the area that may have been exposed.
