Myrtle Beach Considers New Rules For Electric Scooters

City officials are looking at what is being done in other cities to assist in creating the new rules.

The city of Myrtle Beach is seeking new rules for electric scooters in the area.

An ordinance was proposed due to an increase in the number of crashes involving Personal Electronic Devices over the past few years.

The city is hoping to create a clear definition of what a PED is as well as establish where they can be operated. They also want to adopt safety regulations for how they can be driven and establish penalties for violating the ordinance.
