Teen Arrested After Attempted Carjacking Incident

The situation unfolded around 11:45am on Sunday when the victim picked up the suspect to give him a ride.

One teenager was detained following a car jacking incident in Florence County.

The situation unfolded around 11:45am on Sunday when the victim picked up the suspect on Waverly Avenue to give him a ride.

When 19-year-old Nyori Humbert got in the car, he presented a firearm and demanded the victim give him the vehicle. The victim pulled into a gas station where a “struggle” took place before Humbert “gave up” and fled the scene.

The victim recorded part of the incident. It was determined that Humbert and the victim had previously met one time before the attempted carjacking so he was able to identify him.

Humbert was later located near Coit and Evans Street and taken into custody. He was charged with carjacking and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held at the Florence County Detention Center.
