Police Search For Man In Connection To Alleged Assault

A large law enforcement presence was witnessed in the area of Marion and Harrell Streets in Florence.

Florence police are asking for help locating a wanted man.

Around 2:15pm Thursday, a large law enforcement presence was witnessed in the area of Marion and Harrell Streets. Negotiators and an emergency response team were also on the scene.

Officers were sporting tactical gear and gas masks. The incident involved the alleged assault of a woman who accused Justin Mitchell of assaulting her. He allegedly entered the victim’s residence and shoved her.

It was discovered that Mitchell had numerous warrants from Lake City police and the Horry County Sheriff’s Office prompting the deployment of police and fire units as well as the SWAT team.

A drone was also deployed before they cleared the scene around 5pm after failure to locate Mitchell. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Florence County authorities.
