Georgetown Co. Inmate Dies While In Custody
Detention staff noticed 36-year-old Jonathan Turbeville appeared incoherent in his cell.
An inmate at the Georgetown County Detention Center has died.
Shortly before 6pm Monday, detention staff noticed 36-year-old Jonathan Turbeville appeared incoherent in his cell. EMS was called and Turbeville was taken to the ER where he later died.
The inmate was arrested on August 15 on charges of manufacturing, distribution, and possession of a Schedule I narcotic, believed to be fentanyl. He had been placed on a detox protocol established by the detention center’s medical provider.
SLED is now investigating circumstances surrounding his death.
