Trump Orders Commerce Department To Create New Census

President Trump has ordered the Commerce Department to start working a new census.
The Republican took to Truth Social to say that he has instructed the department to immediately create a new and highly accurate census based on modern day facts and figures, and uses results and information gained from the 2024 Presidential Election.
“People who are in our country illegally will not be counted in the census. Thank you for your attention to this matter,” Trump said.
A Commerce Department spokesperson said the Census Bureau will “immediately adopt modern technology tools for use in the census to better understand our robust census data.”
A census is required every decade, as outlined in the constitution. It is designed to count every resident in the U.S. and determines the number of house seats each state has.
It is also used to help hand out billions of dollars in federal funding to local communities.
