Shooting Incident Leads To Sexual Assault Investigation

One man is facing charges in connection to a Robeson County shooting that took place last month.
Around 6am on July 31, police were called to the 4000 block of N.C. Highway 83. Upon arrival, a victim was found shot and suffering non-life threatening injuries.
Maxton police later conducted a traffic stop and detained 24-year-old Ashen Garcia Jr. in connection to the shooting. Deputies reported that the situation became a sexual assault investigation.
Garcia now faces charges of indecent liberties with a child, statutory sex offense with a child, crimes against nature, second-degree kidnapping, contributing to the delinquency of a child and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Garcia is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center without bond. Further details are limited as investigators work to learn more.
