Standoff Situation In Dillon Co. Results In Officer Involved Shooting

A subject pointed a firearm at deputies and threatened to shoot them before barricading himself inside the residence.

A standoff situation unfolded in Dillon County.

On Sunday, deputies responded to a home on Joann Branch Road in the Lake View community.

Upon arrival, a subject pointed a firearm at deputies and threatened to shoot them before barricading himself inside the residence. An arrest warrant was later obtained for the subject.

The sheriff’s office requested assistance from SLED, who sent their SWAT team.

At one point an armored vehicle was used to ram the mobile home causing significant damage.

Following a 10-hour standoff and attempts to negotiate, the suspect fired several rounds at law enforcement before he was fatally shot.
