Two U.S. Military Jets Make Emergency Landing At MYR

The two jets are assigned to the 20th Fighter Wing at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter

Two U.S. military F-16 fighter jets were forced to make an emergency landing at Myrtle Beach International Airport Monday.

Around 9:30am, the jets were spotted and heard as they circled the airport for several minutes before landing without incident.

The two jets, assigned to the 20th Fighter Wing at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, were conducting training missions. They were scheduled to return to base when they diverted to Myrtle Beach after experiencing mechanical issues.

Both landed safely and did not affect any commercial operations at the airport.
