The Trump administration is accepting Venmo payments to help pay down the national debt.
President Trump’s ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ is expected to add trillions to the U.S. national debt and the Treasury Department is offering ways for citizens to help pay it down themselves.
On the Pay.gov website, Americans can see a page titled “Gifts to Reduce the Public Debt.”
Citizens now have the option to contribute via Venmo or PayPal.
The Treasury has run the Pay.gov program for years, but citizens have only reportedly donated around $67.3 million since 1996.
The national debt currently sits around $36.7 trillion and is expected to continue increasing due to the new budget bill.
