A gunman responsible for separate shootings in Kentucky Sunday was shot and killed.
The first shooting unfolded at Blue Grass Airport just miles from downtown Lexington. The suspect was pulled over by a state trooper on a terminal road at the airport due to a license plate alert. During the traffic stop, the trooper was shot and the suspect fled.
Police pursued the suspect for around 16 miles before catching up to him near the Richmond Road Baptist Church, where the gunman opened fire.
Four people were shot, two of which died. Officers were forced to fatally wound the gunman amid the ongoing threat.
The deceased victims were identified as 72-year-old Beverly Gumm and 32-year-old Christina Combs. It was said the two victims were “possibly” related.
The other two victims who were shot at the church remain hospitalized and in stable condition. The officer was also stabilized but remains at the hospital.
