The units aim to provide improved access to preventive care, health resources and testing.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health has launched three new mobile health units.

The units aim to provide improved access to preventive care, health resources and testing.

They will offer various essential public health services. That includes vaccinations, family planning and STD testing and treatment.

The departments on wheels will bring their services to remote areas, where they will improve health outcomes by offering preventive care and education.

The vehicles have two exam rooms, a common clinical area for immunizations and interviewing, as well as the supplies and capabilities to offer a range of services.

They will be staffed by department of public health nurses, nurse practitioners, medical technicians, social workers, and community health workers.
